The Next Liberal Ad

Lib: Hey PC what are you up to?

PC: Just making myself some money.

Lib: I am busy developing Dion Green Plan XIV. I think this one will be on recycled paper.

PC: We raised 5 million dollars. It was boring, but it is 5 million dollars.

Lib: But you’re a nerd.

PC: who raised 4.5 million dollars than you.

Lib: Well, at least I am cooler.

PC: Remember that story parents told their nerdy kids about them growing up and making 10 times more money than you…

Lib: I was too busy cheerleading sorry

PC: I think I will even write a book “How to Outraise a Liberal in 10 Days.” And then a second one called “How Many Ads About How Uncool Your Opponent Is Can You Run With 5 Million Dollars?” That title is still a work in progress.

Lib: Whatevs PC, I will leave in my Toyota Camry hybrid powered by vegetable oil.

PC: I got a helicopter to catch too dude. Seeya Later.

The funny things is that the last time the Conservatives tried to buy expensive ads the YLC ads that cost like a thousand dollars got way more coverage. Money isn't everything.

Justin, if the difference were small, I would agree with you. However, during an election, hving 10 times less will suck, and it will show.

Keep whistling in the dark, there, Justin.

Money=votes, especially now that corporations (which can't vote and never could) can't contribute.

Sux to be you.

Antonio:

In an election both parties (perhaps the NDP as well) will spend the same amount. Your comment to justin tetreault is uninfomed.

Actually JJ

the maximum the Liberals can spend (as can any party) is about 18 million dollars.

The Liberals can borrow the Lion's share of that, and the tories, in the meantime will have more than that and have to blow it all before the campaign starts.

If you think this does not have an impact on the results, then it is you who is uninformed

You stated "However, during an election, hving (sic) 10 times less will suck, and it will show"

I said that this was not the case. Both parties will be allowed to spend virtually the same amount (The Liberals a touch less because we will not run a candidate in Central Nova).

Both prties will spend very close to the limit and will be on an equal footing druing the campaign.

You were referring to the campaign, not pre-campaign spending.

jj - you think that borrowing the lion's share of 18 million isn't going to hurt the Liberals?

And if the YLC 'ads' got so much more coverage, how come the Liberal donations didn't go up?

Candace:

The Liberal Party will still have all the money it needs to finance an 18 million campaign.

It has borrowed the money to finance campaigns in every election since the 60`s and paid it back following the election.

The Party receives over $8 million per annum in public financing. That amount exceeds what it raised prior to the new election financing act.

The Party finances are not in a dangerous situation. Those who raise the issue do so to try and undermine the Leader.

I am not undermining anyone by pointing out that raising 10 times less than your opponent during a financial quarter is potentially harmful.

Some people can live along that river in Egypt if they want, but with almost 2 million left to raise from the four leadership contestants and the well maxing out at 1, 000$ a year, there will some incoming problems down the road...

No Antonio, what you said was that the Liberal Party would have 10 times less during the next election to spend.

That is false.

Just say you were wrong already and move on.

Rough comments... eh?

Small wonder with Librano$ scams still fourishing.

Now Judy Sgro*s daughter. Just google *Small Dead Animals*, and;

Yet I am with you on the *GREEN* side of things. AlGore and Mr. *Fruitfly* trying to bring some enviro-awareness to the unthinking masses.

Pollution is the culprit of course, however *Global Warming* [snowing in Brazil today], is a good ploy to get people*s attention.

Personally, I can*t wait for an efficient EV or compressed air automobile. No more $400 a month for dangerous smelly Exxon-Mobile fuel that I pump into my car while staff sit in the store, warm and dry.

Did you know that Paris taxis run on compressed air? Like a steam engine with not heat and no steam. Did you know that Tata Motors India produce the compressed air car for Indians at three to $4000 each?

Did you know that good battery technology exists and Chevron holds the patents? We could have been driving electric cars since 1992 since the GM EV-1. Ever watch *Who killed the Electric car?*

Is it possible that Chevron, Exxon and General Motors have common shareholders? Interesting that Exxon-Mobile produce a special polymer film for modern lightweight Lithium -Poly batteries. The very basic requirement for a firesafe large format power pack for automotive use. = TG
