CTV Misreports Justin Trudeau Nomination

WOW! Rosemary Thompson just lied on TV.

Fact-Checking my dear Rosemary goes a long way…

Justin intends to seek the Papineau nomination, along with at least 20 other Liberals.

CTV reported it as a done deal. Sources on the electoral commission have told me several times that there will be an open nomination in the riding…

Thompson said that Trudeau himself said he was the candidate, either she misunderstood, or Justin is unaware there is a nomination process in this party…

This blog reported a while ago that Justin would seek the Papineau nomination, so this was hardly news.

I hope this is not Justin’s way of telling the other contenders to back off, because my dear Justin, it will backfire.

Back to CTV, they called the Liberal Party “his father’s party”. So much for everybody else this party is all Pierre Trudeau. PIERRE TRUDEAU IS DEAD. I guess CTV needs a copy of that memo.

Good luck Justin, I will tell my friends who live in Papineau not to vote for you. I do not believe you deserve to run as a Liberal in Quebec at this time.

Out of curiosity only -- if you lived in Papineau and Justin Trudeau were to win the nomination, would you vote for him in the next election?

Are you sure she lied and did she unintentionally have her facts wrong. There is a big difference.

greg what she said was not the truth.

BUT we do not know if Justin lied to her.

The French Media all got it right

Justin to seek nomination...

I share Antonio's position. I always vote for the party (LPC) no matter what are my personnal feelings regarding the party's candidate in my riding. On the other hand, I can tell you that I am not a big fan of Justin (it's more the opposite) who I like to refer to as "the Heir".

Justin will win the nomination. His dad, btw, also ran for nomination to represent the TMR riding.

Antonio what position did you take when the nomination process was aborted in Etobicoke-Lakeshore?

Antonio,

When will you ever support Justin or Sacha if they seek a Liberal nomination? It probably will be when there are no women running for the Liberal party anymore.

Justin Trudeau could jump into the Atlantic Ocean, save 342 drowning babies, and freeze eight toes off and Antonio would still attack him for not having done enough.

He's a man of principle and conviction. Disagreeing with that conviction is no justification for personal attacks, and blind attacks based on his name are no better than blind support based on his name.

Justin said it best himself on CTV today when he said there will always be people who overestimate his abilities and those who underestimate his abilities.

He said he hopes to disappoint both about equally.

I disagree with Braeden. His comment is a sophism. As long as Justin hasn't done much aside from being Pierre's son, as long as he hasn't said much aside from consistently referring to his father's opinions, I, as well as numerous other young liberals (especially) in Québec (where Justin will run), feel very legitimate to put the emphasis on the fact that he has simply not done much to warrant such attention. Saying that Antonio, or anyone else for the matter, would not recognize Justin's dues had he earned them his pure speculation at this point. The fact of a matter is that if his name was Justin Tétrault, we wouldn't hear much from him …

this is the strangest blog. pretty complex stuff:
-iggy: god
-ethnic nationalism: good
-trudeaus: evil
-fiscal imbalance: exists
-stephane dion: vendu

that about sums it all up.

i used to be anti-justin because the media went googoogaagaa over the eulogy he delivered (which i thought sucked), but his recent statements have made me realize that my initial assessment was wrong. indeed, anybody with the courage to stand up for their convictions is ok in my book. and the ability to speak with passion in an articualte manner doesn't hurt either.

Your arguments are well taken Samuel, but let's consider today's context.

Antonio argued ad nauseum that Justin should never get a safe riding because of his name and that he would only earn his respect by running in an unheld riding and trying to earn it for himself.

That is exactly what Justin announced today he is doing...

Actually.. I've seen some of the Blogging Tory sites (Greg Staples being one) giving Justin props for running in a riding that isnt a sure thing.

I hope Antonio will move to Papineau.

He's not one to forgive and forget.

Months later he's seeking vindication for what most of us recognize as stupidity.

It;s very easy to say things and never have to live up to them

. . . . . on a blog.

Today, Justin has thrown down the gantlet.

He has risked his political future and his reputation.

Until you personally run for public office, you don't appreciate what that means.

There are always some who question your character and your motivation.

We all have a genetic predisposition.

So does Justin.

We also have an environment to which we adapt.

Justin's choice today is a good one in the current political environment.

Thanks Justin

.... and Good Luck !!!!

Maybe Antonio should challenge Justin for the nomination in Papineau.
May the best man win.

I know when to say I have accomplished nothing.

Trudeau has yet to prove he has done anything other than deliver a good eulogy.

His other position, President of Katimavik, was given to him by virtue of who created the programme.

But he's seeking the nomination in an open riding, for that I respect him. That is after all, all that I was asking for.

May the best candidate win.

Hey Antonio,

In your post you said that you will get your friends in Papineau not to vote for Justin
Trudeau. Therefore, you do not consider him the best man and therefore will not win.

What you should say is that the candidate who supports soft Quebec nationalism and will address the fiscal imbalance issue prima facie is the best candidate for Papineau and deserves to win. And that according to you is not Justin Trudeau.

"The fact of a matter is that if his name was Justin Tétrault, we wouldn't hear much from him "

I resent that.
