Amateur Hour on the Dion campaign

We laugh and chuckle at Stephane's accent, but if you were running a national campaign, would you send out an email with these wonderful quotes in them?

Our Leader must carry head the renewal of the Liberal Party of Canada, bring together all Liberal activists in order to in order to rally all Canadians and win over Stephen Harper conservatives in the next election.

Bill Clinton declared that all efforts to eradicate poverty in the world would be fruitless if we do not first address the problem of climatic changes.

let us take the time to make the Right choice, the Good choice!
Stephane Dion is the one.

Yes! The Good Choice. Come on guys. We are two weeks from convention, you think you can get somebody to not use Google Translation in your emails?

Update: I forgot some people are looking for anything to slag me. In case some people fail to notice, I was referring to the campaign. This was from an email the campaign sent out. They sent out an email with that in it. No proofreading it seems. That is why it was amateur hour. During a speech, I give people the benefit of the doubt. But this is print guys...come on...

Lame, lame lame. First, you make fun of Belinda for not being French enough.
Now Alex posts about angry Anglos and you make fun of a candidate's English - it all sounds pretty racist to me.
Don't forget how damaging it was to the Tories when they aired an ad making fun of Chretien's English.
You are acting very prejudiced and in the worst taste.

So let me see if I understand this. Rather than attack Dion's policies, his electability, or his leadership skills, you attack his accent? Is Dion such a strong candidate that there is nothing else to attack.

Holy cow, thats the best you got?

Igantieff just stuck his foot in his mouth, again, , making harper look like some kind of human rights champion and making liberals look like human rights chumps, and thats the best you got?

To put it plain, your acting like an asshole. Grow up.

Antonio is absolutely correct.

Politics is about communication. Everyone and their dog, including me, have jumped all over Ignatieff due to semantics and his inability to remove one foot before putting the other in.

In this communiqué Dion doesn't even come close enough for semantic arguments.

Cheers,
lance

D'où vient ce e-mail? Je ne l'ai pas reçu. Franchement, pour des étudiants universitaires, j'ai une mauvaise note pour vous : vous ne citez pas vos sources.

He's not attacking the accent. He's going after the poor quality of the English.

What do we really want ? Someone who is completely bilingual or do we prefer someone who has some difficulties in one of the languages so that when comes an election and it becomes a topic, we might get a few sympathy points. That's a pretty big gamble.

Stating that someone doesn't speak a language very well is not racist. My Spanish is not very good since I haven't had a chance to practice in a few years. Latin is getting very hard since I only worked on it years ago when I was in high school.

Antonio once said in front of a bunch of Young Liberals "I suck at French". It has improved a lot since. That's a problem he had. Belinda can't speak French. That's a fact. Most reporters say that we can't understand Kennedy when he speaks French. Are they racist ? Are anglophones a race ???

Oh and the post was not attacking Dion's English but rather the use of google translate for a mass e-mail.

Being prone to butcher both official languages never hurt Chretien one bit.

Chretien had NO OPPOSITION.

We have to start looking at reality if we ever want to win again. It is great when the opposition's vote is split in two.

we will not have that luxury anytime soon. The federalist vote in Quebec is also now split, making any future gain much more difficult than it was when we had 35 seats

Its funny, i have a much easier time understanding dion when it comes to the "quebec nation" than ignatieff.

Maybe you should get over dions accent already and focus on what hes saying.

Antonio - happy to know you are on the Dion mailing list.
Please post the full source as you seem to be the only Dion supporter who received the email.
